Apart from developing an economical alternative to expensive electronic devices for water testing in the form of the Arsenic GFP, one of the objectives of our project was to make Science, as a medium, and experimentation overall, a more inclusive, interactive and quite simply enjoyable activity for regular people. We talked about bringing science into people’s homes, deconstructing seemingly complex experiments to allow people to conduct them in their own garages or backyards.

After discussing the possibility of a mobile lab with Urs, Robertina, Mark and Sachiko at the International Hackteria Lab, we thought about a modular laboratory that promoted DIY experimentation and provided simple basic equipment and instructions required to perform pretty much every experiment on the Hackteria Website, or at the very least, the ones that we had conducted thus far.
