Urs Gaudenz

Interests: "Community of learners", create an intense international hack learning lab.

Short Bio: Urs Gaudenz is microengineer and founder of GaudiLabs. He worked for Swiss high tech companies in the field of micro sensor technology and brushless motor control. With his solid background in electronics, mechanics and software he is working in a concurrent style between the disciplines. After several years of experience as a consultant in innovation management he is now engaged as lecturer for product innovation at the Lucerne University of Applied Science and Arts. His aim is to evolve towards more balanced collaborative entities in social action, business and technology.

Dr. Marc Dusseiller

Interests: Daphnia-Hacking, Euglena burgers, BioElectronics, low-cost diagnostics, building DIWO community bio-labs

Short Bio: Dr. Marc R. Dusseiller is a transdisciplinary scholar, lecturer for micro- and nanotechnology, cultural facilitator and artist. He works in an integral way to combine science, art and education. He performs DIY (do-it-yourself) workshops in lo-fi electronics, hardware hacking, microscopy, music and robotics. He was co-organizing Dock18, Room for Mediacultures, diy* festival (Zürich, Switzerland), KIBLIX 2011 (Maribor, Slovenia), workshops for artists, schools and children as the former president (2008-12) of the Swiss Mechatronic Art Society, SGMK. Currently, he is developing means to perform bio- and nanotechnology research and dissemination, Hackteria | Open Source Biological Art, in a DIY fashion in kitchens, ateliers and in developing countries.

Yashas Shetty

Interests:

Short Bio: Yashas Shetty is an artist and composer based in Bangalore, India. He is currently an artist in residence and faculty at the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology. He helped found the Center for Experimental Media Arts at Srishti and has previously taught at design schools across India. His works look at the relationship between language,ecology and technology. He is also one of the founding members of the Hackteria project.

Aysisha Abraham

Interests: Archives, Video Art

Short Bio: Born in 1963. Lives in Bangalore, India, Ayisha Abraham is a visual artist who does installation art and makes short digital films. She studied Fine Arts at the MS University, Baroda, India, BFA 1987, Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA (MFA) 1995, and did the Whitney Independent Study Program in 1991-92. She works as a visual arts consultant at the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore, India. She has, among other courses on the history of visual cultures, organized an in house documentary film festival for the students titled “Nazariya”. She is presently engaged in making a series of short experimental film from home movies she has been collecting since 2000.

Sharath Chandra Ram

Interests:

Short Bio: Sharath Chandra Ram has research and pedagogical interests in citizen science, cognitive neuroscience, digital humanities and media arts. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh specializing in Artificial Intelligence and interactive virtual environments within the Institute of Perception Action and Behaviour. He is Faculty at Srishti School of Art Design & Technology and a researcher at the Centre for Internet & Society, where he setup and coordinates activities of the Metaculture Media Lab, an open citizen hackerspace. He previously was a Research Associate at NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences),Dept of Cognitive Neuroscience.

Dr. Sachiko Hirosue

Interests:

Short Bio: Sachiko Hirosue works as a researcher at the interface of biomaterials and lymphatic physiology in the Institute of Bioengineering, School of Life Sciences, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland. Her interests in bio art derives from the encounter at the Subtle Technologies Festival (Toronto, Canada), which she co-chaired from 2005-2008.

Sakar Pudasaini

Interests: programming, DIWO tech/science, context appropriate technology, income generation through hacking skills

Short Bio: Sakar is programmer by trade and a tinkerer by desire. A recent dissident from the world of cubicals he has started two enterprises in the last year. GalliGalli (www.GalliGalli.org) a social tech company. And Karkhana (www.Karkhana.asia) a company with a mission to support a culture of experimentation. Both companies are based in Kathmandu, Nepal. Working in areas with limited career opportunities for creative technologists and limited resources for R&D shapes his two main interests, i.e. context appropriate technologies and how DIY, DIWO tech/science can be parleyed into careers or income generating business.

Robertina Sebjanic

Interests: building DIWO community bio-labs / algae / moss / fungi / sensors / diy electronics & function of basic components / sound / glitches / microfluidics / molecular gastronomy / space+stars+planets+galaxy / sci fi ....

Short Bio: Robertina explores in her projet's various media such as video and ambiental installations and more broadly conceived cross media / technology within the context of contemporary art practice. The context of her ideas and concepts is often realized in collaboration with other authors, and thus through interdisciplinary and informal integration embodied in her work.

In 2012 she organized Interactivos?’12 Ljubljana: Obsolete Technologies of the Future at LJUDMILA digital media lab in Ljubljana where she was between 2008 and 2012 head and a co-ordinator of art and educational activities.

Short Bio: Špela Petrič (1980), BSc, is currently studying at Transmedia, LUCA, Brussels. As an artist she focuses on the cross-section of biological sciences, performance and art and collaborates with the Kapelica Gallery in Ljubljana. Her recent work includes Humalga: Towads the Human Spore (art-research project with Robertina Šebjanič, 2012), Circadian Drift (installation with Maja Smrekar, 2012), CTCAG - recognition (lecture-performance, 2011), Cladocera (installation, 2010)

Short Bio: Ron Schneider is a self taught artist exploring the correlation between sound and technology. Based in Berlin works as a music producer, sound technician, musician and engineer modifying or building custom electronic instruments. Tips for travelling to India

VISA

Almost everybody travelling to India will need a visa. tourist should be ok for participating at the lab. it usually takes 1-3 weeks depending on where you apply for it. one has to fill the online application first and then send or bring everything to a local indian embassy/consulate in your country.

selected countries, such as finland, singapore, japan etc.. are eglegible for visa-on-arrival. but only at designated airports, not including bangalore.
