Day 1 (11/01/2013):Creating a Microscope out of an external webcam.
Group member: Akshaya
Materials Required:
1)An external webcam
2)A laptop(to view the real & enlarged image)
3)Super glue
4)A screw-driver set
So all you need to do is, dismantle the webcam, take out the lens, flip it, and place it on the microprocessor. Adjust the position of the lens and glue the them onto the processor only when you obtain a clear image. We tested the microscope by holding the lens to the laptop screen and were able to view the RGB pixels. This method was later used to view the veins of leaves and particles in dirty water. The day ended with a video chat with Sachiko Hirosue, who briefed us on her work.
